Planning to travel to Morocco from Jamaica? The trip is very doable, but it rewards early paperwork. The biggest question is not the flight. It is the visa, and the answer depends on which other visas or residence permits you already hold. Here is everything we tell Jamaican guests before they book, updated as of October 2026.

Do Jamaicans need a visa to travel to Morocco from Jamaica?

Yes. As of October 2026, ordinary Jamaican passport holders need a visa. You have two possible paths:

  1. Consular visa: apply through the Moroccan embassy or consulate that covers Jamaica. Ask which mission handles your application and allow plenty of time.
  2. e-Visa, online at acces-maroc.ma: single entry, stay up to 30 days, valid for 180 days from issue, usually processed in about 24 hours (express) or 72 hours (standard), counted in Moroccan business days. Your passport needs at least 90 days of validity.

Which e-Visa category fits you?

  • Category B: you live in the USA, UK, Canada, an EU country or another listed country, and your residence permit is valid for at least 180 more days.
  • Category C: you hold a non-electronic, multiple-entry visa from the USA, UK, Canada, the Schengen Area, Ireland, Japan, Australia, Norway or New Zealand, valid for at least 90 more days.

Many Jamaicans already have a US visitor visa, which is exactly the kind of visa Category C is built around. Rules change, so confirm on acces-maroc.ma or with the nearest Moroccan consulate before you buy flights. Our Morocco visa guide by nationality covers the other cases.

Getting there: flights and connections

There is no direct flight from Jamaica. The cleanest option is to connect in the US, where Royal Air Maroc flies nonstop to Casablanca from Miami (about 8 hours) and New York JFK (about 7 hours). Remember that changing planes in the US requires a valid US visa, even if you never leave the airport.

Two other patterns we see:

  • Via London: fly to the UK, then on to Marrakech. Check UK transit rules for Jamaican passports first.
  • Via Toronto or Montreal: both have RAM nonstops to Casablanca, a useful option if you have Canadian status.

Door to door, expect 14 to 20 hours. For a deeper comparison of routes, read how to get to Morocco.

Money: JMD, euros and how you pay

Our prices are set in euros. Any Jamaican dollar figure on the site is a rough guide based on the rate on 18 October 2026 (about J$179 to €1). A 3-day group desert tour at J$ 25,935 per person works out at roughly J$25,900. You pay a deposit online through PayPal, using a PayPal account or a debit or credit card, in EUR or USD, and the balance in Morocco on arrival. Ask your bank about foreign transaction fees before you pay.

Once in Morocco, you will use dirhams (MAD). US dollars and euros are easy to exchange in cities; Jamaican dollars are not, so change money before you leave.

When to go, around Jamaican holidays

The sweet spots are March to May and September to November: warm days, cool desert nights. That second window lines up nicely with a quiet patch at home after the summer.

  • Emancipation and Independence (1 and 6 August): popular for a long break, but August in the Moroccan interior is very hot. Stick to the coast and the Atlas, or plan short desert stays.
  • Christmas and New Year: mild days, freezing desert nights. Pack layers, which surprises most Caribbean travellers.
  • Easter: pleasant weather, but book early.

Ramadan in 2027 is expected from about 8/9 February to 9/10 March. You can travel then; the pace just changes.

Plugs and voltage

Jamaica uses 110 V with flat-pin type A/B plugs. Morocco runs on 220 V with round-pin type C/E sockets, so bring an adapter and check that chargers are rated 100–240 V. Hair tools are the usual casualty.
